VAX VMS File Names with Versions, Deletion, Browsing, etc. - KB Article #1273Related Articles --
VMS automatically uses file version numbering in its file system. Each file is automatically assigned a version number and is represented after the file name with a semicolon followed by the file version number.
By default FTP Voyager disables or ignores VMS file version numbers. When ignoring file version numbers, deletion and other file operations can be difficult. To enable or disable VMS version numbers:
- Start FTP Voyager.
- In the Site Profile Manager select the "Advanced" button.
- Navigate to "File".
- Enable or disable "Don't show VMS version numbers".
When disabled FTP Voyager shows file names followed by a semicolon, and the version number. When enabled FTP Voyager strips the semicolon and version number from the file name.
