To hide or prevent users from seeing the actual path on your hard drive when they issue the CWD command use the "Lock user in home directory" feature. This feature can be set at different levels (User, Group, Domain, or Server) and is inherited in a top-down fashion.

To set the option at the User level:

  • Open the Serv-U Management Console
  • Open either Domain Users or Global Users
  • Edit the appropriate user account from the Users tab or Database Users
  • Checkbox the "Lock user in home directory option"
