White List and Black List Priority in Zaep  -  KB Article #1389

Related Articles --

Zaep has a very specific order in which it handles incoming messages. First, Zaep checks to see if a message meets any of the following criteria for being allowed. If none are met, it checks the message against the following deletion criteria. If the message does not fall under either category, Zaep sends a challenge message.

Allowed Criteria:
  • If the sender’s address is white listed, the message is approved.
  • If the message matches the subject word list, the message is approved.
  • If the sender’s address is on a wildcard white list, the message is approved unless it is on a black list.
Deleted Criteria:
  • If the sender’s address is blacklisted, the message is deleted.
  • If the sender’s address is on a wild card black list, the message is deleted.
  • If the sender’s address is on a global black list, the message is deleted.

If none of the above criteria are met, a challenge message is sent.
