Firewall Configuration - Firebox 500 from WatchGuard - KB Article #1397Related Articles --
Many high end firewall systems allow the limitation of specific protocols. In the Firebox 500 firewall, there are options to limit FTP access to read only. In most cases, this option should be disabled. Serv-U already has the ability to limit the permissions of connecting users, and those permissions can be managed more easily within Serv-U than in the firewall configuration.
As with any firewall, first make sure it is configured to allow external access to the internal IP Address where Serv-U is listening.
With this specific firewall, the Properties have to be modified to allow basic FTP functions. In order to permit upload access, uncheck the "read only" options. Disabling all the FTP security in the firewall is perfectly acceptable. Serv-U can handle all the security options on it's own.
