By default, the Serv-U Management Console (or Administrator in Serv-U 6) can be accessed freely when logged on to the server on which Serv-U is installed. However, on some occasions it may be necessary to restrict administrative access to Serv-U to even administrators with access to the server. Serv-U allows administrators to set a password to restrict access. To do this, follow the steps below:

Password Protecting the Serv-U Management Console (Serv-U 7.x and greater)

To password protect the Serv-U Management Console:

  1. Open the Management Console and navigate to Server | Limits and Settings
  2. Open the "Settings" tab, then find "Change Admin Password" in the lower-left hand corner of the window

  3. Enter the desired password, then click on "OK" to save
