Playing Sound Effects With Serv-U Events - KB Article #1791Related Articles -- 1783
Through the Serv-U Events system, Administrators cannot only execute custom batch files or events but can also trigger playback of sounds to indicate when certain events have taken place. This may be most optimal when specific user accounts of higher importance transfer files.
Configuring the sound playback is done through the standard Events system and is implemented through the "Execute Custom Command" action. Instead of providing a program or batch file, direct Serv-U to "execute" the WAV, MIDI, or MP3 file which should be played back and then save the event.
Since sound files require a user to be logged in, Serv-U must be running as an application and not as a system service to play the sound. This can be accomplished using the directions at KB Article #1158.
