Socket Error: Unknown Socket Error (1814) - KB Article #2014Related Articles -- 1722
Users started getting "Socket error: unknown socket error (1814)". Users did not upgrade software or make any other known changes to computer.
Cause:The router/firewall may strip or disregard the HOST command being sent by the client. This is because most firewalls/routers monitor FTP sessions to ensure that proper IP address information is used for "PASV" mode data transfers, and may fail if they receive an command they do not expect (like HOST).
Resolution:The HOST command can be disabled in FTP Voyager using the "Use HOST Before Login" option in the "Site Profile Manager | Advanced | Connection" menu. Uncheck the box next to this option within the Advanced Settings menu.
