How To Deny Password Storage In FTP Voyager - KB Article #2088Related Articles --
In some deployments of FTP Voyager, it may not be permissible for the passwords of secured servers to be saved in FTP Voyager for future use. This is more frequently the case when FTP Voyager will be used to access high-security servers. In these cases, it may be desirable for FTP Voyager to be configured to deny the ability to save passwords in site profiles. FTP Voyager permits this through the use of a Windows Registry key that can be deployed through Active Directory or local setup.
The key in question is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rhino Software\FTP Voyager\Allow Password Storage. To configure this key:
- Open the Windows Registry Editor by running the "regedt32.exe" program in Windows
- Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rhino Software\FTP Voyager key. It may be necessary to create the "Rhino Software" and "FTP Voyager" keys by right clicking and choosing "New | Key"
- Once in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Rhino Software\FTP Voyager\, create a new DWORD value called "Allow Password Storage" and set the value to "0"
Now, when opening FTP Voyager, saving passwords in Site Profiles will not be permitted. However, note that previously saved passwords will remain.
