Strong security features

Strong security features

Don’t send sensitive files over email. Use an FTP program built for enterprise-grade security and compliance.

Serv-U uses SSL/TLS encryption to help prevent tampering, leakage, or exposure during any transfer—even with multiple file transfers and files larger than 3GB. Serv-U also comes with out-of-the-box file sharing security standards like the ability to set and manage concurrent session limits, blocking the IP addresses of timed-out sessions to help prevent brute force attack, and more.

For even deeper file security, the Serv-U Gateway add-on is designed to prevent insecure data at rest in DMZ networks to comply with regulations like PCI DSS.

Comprehensive management

Comprehensive management

Serv-U offers admins granular control in an easy-to-use, customizable web console. Easily create and manage user accounts and their file sharing quotas. Use domains, groups, users, and collections to manage who can access specific files and folders on a server’s hard drive.

For real-time session monitoring, view transfer details or pause and resume active transfers in the FTP program. Admins can also set limits to avoid bandwidth throttling or storage issues, whether in virtual local folders or for remote transfers.

User-friendly design

User-friendly design

The FTP program in Serv-U MFT offers employees a central location for sending and receiving files. Multi-protocol support means users can connect to a server in their preferred ways. Users can also transfer multiple files or large files with simple drag-and-drop via an intuitive web browser or mobile transfer on iOS and Android.

Serv-U is also built so admins can easily take care of FTP program security concerns, such as automatically moving or deleting files after each transfer. End users can even be prompted to reset their usernames and passwords after a set number of days for additional security.

What is an FTP program?
definition
An FTP program uses the File Transfer Protocol (FTP) to transfer data or files between client and server devices on a network. FTP uses SSL/TLS or SFTP security protocols. The FTP port connection works by establishing two TCP links between the client and FTP server, which first pass control information, then create a data connection. The FTP ports can use either active or passive transfer mode.
